Sci-Fi Traffic Hazards Kickstarter

This may sound cheap but.....

Hoping more people join in.

Nothing cheap about it. We can afford what we can afford. I could have made the prices cheaper if I priced for a batch of say 100 rather than 30-40 as I did, but then the base cost to fund the KS would have been even higher.
At this rate the kickstarter is a definite flop. Ive hit most of the sites that seemed to be the most applicable, and was ignored on a handfull of them when requesting permission to post, so that's that.

And as for affording what we can afford, Ive started production on a handfull of these depleting what Im willing to spend up front on the project, and if they sell then some of that will go toward getting others tooled, if not... Well I got mine... and plenty of other projects I had put on hold to give this a shot =)

Below are some painted prototype bases I was going to throw in with the models that needed bases, if the KS reached a very small stretch goal after the funding, or even in the base if the caster came back with low enough prices.

I presume they are normal base height, and not double size like the MAS ones, so might well be popular for that reason.

They are 30 and 50 mm diameter and are nominally 4.5-5.5mm thick depending on features with one about 6mm thick.

The single largest one is 63mm made to be large enough as a base for the cargo crab and is 6.3mm thick
None are pre-drilled for flying posts since I assume most people own a drill and like me rarely use the posts provided.

Yes you should sell those bases. Even if the kickstarter does work out you have a hit on your hands.

I suggest you change up the order of your pictures on the kickstarter. Start it off with unpainted pictures of the models. Give people a chance to see the nice casts.

I just found this one. I'm stunned by both the amazing cars and the apparent lack of excitement from the Infinity community. We've needed something like this for our game boards, and to see it not embarrassed is shocking. If anyone is interested but hasn't pledged my question to you is "What are you waiting for?" Yes the bases are amazing, but you can't throw a stick down the halls of the interwebs and not hit 15 sites selling bases. The vehicles are amazing, and no one else is producing anywhere near that variety of sci-fi cars.

I know everybody has to cover their costs etc... I really like the idea and design of the cars. But for me this kickstarter is way to expensive.

I had a feeling international shipping would be an issue. Us Americans need to pick up the slack.

International shipping is definitely an issue and I figured a deal breaker from the start. Its freakishly expensive when your model weighs more than a few ounces or requires a certain box size to be shipped.

I will be doing a run of some of these vehicles no matter what, and if the KS fails offering to those who pledged first. Im contemplating a "trade" deal with one of the casters to do a couple production molds of the more popular spin-cast models. (the smaller ones). I will also probably do a resizing of the bases for 25 and 40mm No round lip just a square dropoff, and then doing a run of those in drop-cast resin.

And to distract myself from the KS and be productive I painted a couple happy fighters (F35 and Sigma fighter) for my UFO: IRF game that I made these cars for. The F35 is to act as a standard old interceptor, while the sigma fighter is a top-of-the-line Alien Human Hybrid Aerospace fighter.

I kind of agree with this - it's been sad that this hasn't been picked up by my members of the community. As has been said though by posters above me, price is definitely a big issue. It's a shame that it sounds like an unavoidable issue (especially for non-US customers)

In any case - even in the event of the KS not reaching its desired target, I would love to see these go on general sale. Have you considered a limited webstore for purchases Atropos? I have a feeling the KS isn't a true reflection of how popular these might be - once doubt sets in about a KS not reaching its target, that essentially just stops people pledging. That even happened with big Kickstarters, like the Gates of Antares one.

International shipping has been a general problem for the Infinity Community in general. I'm glad you will produce these regardless of the KS Steven. You may want to contact BlueDagger on here about selling some of these at Feast of Blades in Denver in October. It's shaping up to be a big Infinity event in your neighborhood.

Shamefully I was unaware of it. I frequented Genghis and Tacticon but was unaware of the feast of blades being a denver event.

Do they allow games outside those listed... I might be interested in hosting a game or two of my UFO: Incursion Response Force. That alone is great advertising for the vehicles. And its fun to see people fight off aliens, andl... do as their morals dictate with civis.

The vehicles that I have ordered a small batch of (based on my financial limits) include

trains
cargo crabs
Utility truck (still working out the wheels vs hover pads which are separate and not mastered yet)
pod car
mustang

Vehicles I may get spun a little later are(later because these molds and spins add up fast). stroller, grid runner, monowheel, viper fang, outboard hover, switchblade, Laser fence,

Bases are supposedly in small quantity production but only at 30 and 50mm right now. Ill save up to do another run in a month or two.

I think that's an excellent start. 50mm bases are used for some TAGS I think. From what I've seen of your planes, i think some of them will become popular sellers outside of your game as well.

I though Some of the Larger T.A.G.s used them... Though I wouldn't mind a 80mm Base made how the normal bases are.

One thing a Kickstarter will do that is quite valuable is give you an indication of how many people want what and are willing to pay for it, as opposed to a simple poll/survey which is simply people wishlisting.

PS. that was actually the money I had put into the robotech KS so I put you ahead of transforming mechs. It was not an easy choice =)

Ive ordered 3d prints of the 25 and 40mm bases a week ago so probably `-1 months before I can produce that in limited quantity, or outsource it.

Ive also worked out a small deal with the spin caster to paint a model for him in exchange for a couple production spin molds. I need to figure out if I will family mold a large number or keep them one model per mold....
