You are using © (copyright) incorrectly - you are confusing it with a Trademark. If you are in business, this is actually important, so this isn't just me being pedantic.

Copyright is for original works of art and applies to the work itself - textual contents or visual representation. The building and it's design are implicitly copyrighted. There are limitations - e.g, it must actually be original and a work of art. You can't make 4 walls, cut a hole in the side for a door, and call it original. Likewise, clear acrylic floors/with a hexagon grid is not something that can be copyrighted by itself, but it can contribute to being part of the greater work.

In this case you are using a brand name - SlotX. What you want is trademark ™ or (TM). If you have registered the trademark (filed and paid the fees) then - and only then - can you use registered tradmark ® or (R).

The mechanical method of connecting is not applicable for copyright as it is not a work of art, but you can patent it. That is a separate process and involves an application and a fee, and must be a novel invention or significant improvement on an existing design. That's harder to achieve than it seems. This method usually involves patent lawyers to do research for prior art.

In addition, as a mass-produced item the design itself is presumably covered by design right rather than copyright.

In your home country, about S$341

The thing about trademarks is that they are only worthwhile if you think someone will attempt to create and market a copy of your product, AND you can afford to bring suit against them. You'll still have to pay the lawyers, and assuming you win (which have a trademark helps with), you can then attempt to get the losing side to cover your court costs, but unless this is a hundred-thousand-dollar a year profitable venture for you, you're just going to be throwing money away.

It also won't prevent anyone from using the term to sell a compatible product. See "Games Workshop vs Chapterhouse" for an actual law case in the gaming hobby.

Regarding your SlotX connectors, they look interesting but casting the connectors in resin results in large and fragile pieces... I would suggest looking into using plastics for the connectors themselves, using a plastic that has a little bit of give. You can produce a piece probably about half as bulky and less likely to break. Alternatively, what about connectors made from acrylic by using cut grooves and slots, then glued together with plastic glue?

Thank you for your information regarding trademark regulation and your interest in our product.

We are using ABS plastic material for all the connectors.

For example, the L shape clip weigh about 1g without the magnet and the dimension is about 15mm x 15mm x 10mm (L X W X H). We have done stress test on the clip and finally come down to this dimension.

It is not productive and impossible to use acrylic to made a connector as our dimension of the slot tolerance is less than 0.3mm.

So does anyone have any feedback on these products "out in the wild"?

I'll be running a small tournament in my LGS in the new year, and I've already got enough terrain for 2 good tables, but I need to quickly fill a third. I love all my MDF stuff, but at the same time I'm sick to death of building and painting it and couldn't face another table-worth! :D

These look like just the ticket - quick assembly and the little bit of tinted colour keeps things interesting without having to waste time painting.

Just interested to hear about anyone's experiences.
