I was thinking Pangolin...

Remember this? Of course not.
Image

How about, remember me? :D

Still overcoming a massive winter hobby burn out, but I did manage a little work on this building. Easing back into things.

And with a removable roof and floor for interior accessibility.

The windows will be the interesting part here. Probably smoked glass. Very much in the "modernist" style And maybe a few more balconies or ledges. We'll see. For the record, it is a 12" cube, counting the superstructure on the roof. No more tiny buildings. Also, with the new scale for the minis (32mm according to Helllois, IIRC) I've decided to try using a 1/50 scale for buildings... because I have an Engineer's Ruler that is properly gradated for 1/50. Makes life easy.

Thanks guys.

This is what I had in mind for the windows
Image
Yes, they are large, but that is part of the style.

Started work on the entrance. The white cardboard is just a placeholder for where the 'glass' will go.
Image
Image
And a scale shot using an Engineer's Ruler so y'all can see the 'size' of the thing.
Image
The building itself is essentially 60' by 60' which is a large house, really.

The front door, WIP
Image
I'm tempted to leave it clear, the glass. I'll experiment a bit and decide later on. Clear glass would require more detail to the interior. But it may look cooler. If that is the case, cooler will win out.
Balcony detail. Doorway is just the right size.

One more WIP

Still plenty of work to do. But this is something to overcome the winter burnout, so I don't plan on rushing.

Thanks for stopping by. It's quiet around here these days. Bummer.

Finished construction on the roof and its shed. Base coat of paint applied. I'll get around to finishing things off, paint-wise, when I figure out the details...a small light fixture above the door, for example. maybe a few vents applied to the walls. Not too much though. I don't want to detract from the main feature.

BTW: that door is 34" wide and 80" high in scale. The mini is very big. Belongs on a 40mm base, if you ask me.

I think that I will need to glue down those roofs. The space directly underneath them is not really meant to be playable anyway.

Back to work on the main building now.

Pity about not using the inner space, after all the effort with tiles, supports, gallery (foyer? the "inner balcony/corridor" connecting the real balconies) and such.

I was referring to the space under the roof structures, not the actual space in the building. Really, the roof structures are there to be a handle for lifting the roof. And to look cool.

The building is too large to not have interior playable areas.

Do remember that our minis are standing on a roughly 7" tall chunk of terrain as their base, which does odd things to sightlines and where minis heads end up on doors.

Though I wish I would have taken a picture of the hall at the dorm I stayed at in Japan, the doors were only about 72" tall, so I had to duck going into the room!

Not Just Japan, Section 9. In many parts of Wales, the doorways are tiny.

I have it on good authority that Icelandic doorways are on the short side as well.

I suspect part of that is to minimize heat loss etc. Or a scarcity of wood?

Anyway, lots of RL stuff, so just a few WIPs

Going with a simple panel design for the walls. The pilotis (?) are most probably going to be dark gray.

Heat issues (one way or the other), as classic construction in hot places also goes with small doors and windows. And people being smaller then, as demostrated by armor that can't shrink (nb: castles had even smaller paths, for defense) so their "perfect" is our "tiny".
