Deployment:

Combined Army wins initiative. Confident it can absorb Haqqislam's first turn, the Combined Army chooses the better of the two sides (the Lasiq's Climbing + notwithstanding). Haqqislam must deploy first and go first. Initial deployment:

Image

(Haqqislam forgot to deploy two Ghulam, later located where the insignia are)

Turn 1, Haqqislam Active Turn
-Izzat Beg revs the engine on his monocycle and roars impetuously forward, driving right past a mine.
Image
-He fails his armor save and becomes the first casualty.
-The Lasiq Sniper tries to discover the Camo Marker on the center roof and succeeds, revealing it as a Seed Embryo. The Lasiq misses with its subsequent fire action. Another order scores a hit on the Seed Embryo, which fails one BTS roll and reveals an unconscious Caliban Engineer. A third order misses the Engineer. A fourth order finally reduces the Engineer to a Spawn Embryo marker.
Image
-Haqqislam's remaining orders were fed to the Maghariba Guard, which moved up to take the corner of the central building, where it could dominate the street with its Multi-HMG.
Image

Turn 1, Combined Army Active Turn
-The Daturazi cancels its impetuous order and then uses a second order to throw smoke speculatively. The target is street below him but the shot is wildly inaccurate, landing behind the Maghariba Guard.
Image
-The Aswuang Lieutenant realizes the errant smoke grenade will protect him from the Lasiq Sniper and decides to take advantage of the opportunity, spending four orders to run up the left side of the ruined warehouses and take a ADHL Combat Camo attack against the Maghariba.
Image
-The ADHL attack misses and the Maghariba reacts by turning to face the Aswuang. Caught out in the open, the Aswuang spends another order to shoot and then move. The Maghariba reacts with an explosive ammo ARO. The Maghariba wins the face to face roll and reduces the Aswuang to a Spawn Embryo.
Image
(funny thing about this series of events...we first calculated that the Aswuang needed a 15 and the Maghariba a 17. We both rolled 14's and I thought the Maghariba won because it had the higher ballistic skill. I rolled my armor roll and failed. Then I suddenly realized I'd forgotten the Aswuang's camouflage so I gleefully announced that in fact the Maghariba needed a 14 and the Aswuang had won! My son smiled and said "no he didn't, that just means the Maghariba critted.")
-The Vector Operator spends the last order moving out from behind the ruined warehouse and back again. The Maghariba Guard reacts by turning back to face the street, but not before the Vector Operator scores a crit and the Maghariba takes one point structural damage.
Image

Turn 2, Haqqislam Active Turn
-The Ghulam Lieutenant sprints down the opposite street, takes cover behind some barrels, and successfully discovers a Shrouded Minelayer. One rifle burst later and the Shrouded becomes a Spawn Embryo.
Image
-The Ghulam Lieutenant continues around the Combined Army's right flank, hoping to kill another Seed. Unfortunately for her, she runs right into a Noctifier that suddenly materializes from hidden deployment and cuts her down with a burst of combi rifle fire.
Image
-A Bashi Bazouk uses its irregular order (proxying the link leader marker for an irregular marker) to parachute in and try to deal with the Noctifier. The Noctifier ARO's against the "real" miniature in the photo, which of course turns out to be a hologram.
Image
-Concerned about the Noctifier's TO Camo, the Bashi Bazouk draws its knife and charges into Close Combat. The Noctifier draws its pistol and guns the pirate down!

Turn 2, Combined Army Active Turn
-The Camo Marker behind the Noctifier reveals itself to be a Seed Embryo and it hatches a Caliban Engineer.
-Forced to use its impetuous order, the Daturazi Witch Soldier stands up and tries to throw smoke. It fails its face to face roll against numerous antagonists and is gunned down.
-In Loss of Lieutenant, the Combined Army elects a new Lieutenant: the Caliban Engineer.

Turn 2, Haqqislam Army Active Turn
-My son made a mistake...he had a Ghulam Lieutenant but had mentally chosen one other than the one I had killed. But when I told him he'd used the lieutenant order on it (which he had) he conceded the mistake and agreed he was in loss of lieutenant. He elected a new Lieutenant (I later discovered it was his Lasiq Sniper).

Turn 3, Combined Army Active Turn
-The Caskuda uses its own order to land, and simultaneously explode, amidst three Haqqislam Line Infantry. The first Ghulam AROs with his shotgun, the Naffatun with his flamethrower, and the second Ghulam with an Alert to turn the facing of the Maghariba, Jannisairie and Azra'il. The Caskuda fails its armor save against the light shotgun but saves against the flamethrower. All three Ghulam are killed dead by the shock ammo explosion of impact.
Image
-The Noctifier kills the unconscious Ghulam Lieutenant with another Combi Rifle burst and comes around the corner. That puts it in the sights of the Lasiq Sniper (blurry in the foreground), which downs it with viral ammo (no dogged and no spawn embryo :( )
Image
-The Vector Operator pokes his head out again and scores another crit on the Maghariba, which is once again forced to turn around to face the annoying bug.
-I feed the rest of my orders to the Caskuda, which is having a devil of a time with the Lasiq and the Azra'il, while carefully avoiding entering the Maghariba's Zone of Control (to prevent it from turning around again). First the Caskuda moves out of the shadow of the tall building and scores a hit on the Lasiq. But the Lasiq makes its armor save and fails its guts check, crawling backward out of sight. The remaining orders are close-range face to face rolls against the Azra'il, who continues to make armor rolls. The last order finally scores a kill on the Azra'il, and fearing the end of my turn and the Maghariba, I move the Caskuda into Close Combat with the Haqqislam Heavy Infantry.

Turn 4, Haqqislam Army Active Turn
-The Maghariba turns and fires at the Caskuda. It uses integrated ammo in the hope of lessening the chance of hitting the Azra'il. It scores a hit and the Caskuda loses another structure point.
-The Lasiq crawls forward and fires at the Caskuda. Both bursts hit, and the Caskuda takes its third and final point of structure damage...it is destroyed. But it's left on the table since I still have an engineer.
Image
-Haqqislam uses the rest of its orders to move the Jannisaire doctor up my right flank, and move the Maghariba back toward the Caskuda's carcass to prevent it being repaired.

Turn 4, Combined Army Active Turn
-This is where the Shavasti special rule and the Morat special rule (from my Daturazi) save my bacon. I'm not in retreat because I haven't lost very many actual points (most of my casualties are still spawn embryos).
-My first order goes on the Ikadron Batroid. It cautious moves across an alley so that the Lasiq can't fire (6-2 move is a thing of beauty!).
-A second order brings it to the corner of the building, where it unloads double flamethrowers on the hapless Jannisairie. The Jannisairie hits with a shotgun ARO, but the Ikadron makes its armor save. The Jannisairie, on the other hand, burns alive.
Image
-With the Maghariba gone, the Vector Operator is finally able to sneak up forward along the street. He takes the corner of the central building and unloads a burst of machinegun fire on the Lasiq. The Lasiq goes down!
Image
-The next machinegun burst scores the final kill on the Maghariba Guard.

Turn 5, Haqqislam Active Turn
-Haqqislam is in both loss of lieutenant and retreat. But he doesn't give up! The Azra'il uses an order to partially counter-act his impetuous retreat.
-Then he uses an order on the Maghariba's pilot, which ejects, armed only with a pistol, ready to try and take down the Vector Operator!
Image

Turn 5, Combined Army Active Turn
-The Vector Operator fires at the Azra'il, winning the face to face roll and cutting down the heavy infantry. The Maghariba pilot also gets an unopposed ARO with his pistol. It would have been epic if he'd killed the Vector but, sadly, he misses.
-The Vector cuts down the pilot and the game is over.

VICTORY FOR THE COMBINED ARMY!

I've been lazy about painting them...I have to turn the frosty bar into a noodle shop and paint the apartment. You can pick them up for less than most of the laser cut stuff and in my opinion there are quite a few with the right paint job that could look pretty futuristic. The Airport, Hangar and Apartment building I think all would look good as futuristic cyberpunk style buildings.

Of course, as you can see from my set up, I'm just fine with a good old fashioned modern day look ;)
