BR: Paradiso 101 MO vs IS

by Noirfatale » February 4th, 2013, 8:14 pm

We are 6 players doing the Paradiso Campaign and here is the battle report of my game. I decided to play Military Order Sectorial (Pano) and my opponent went with Imperial Service (Yu Jing)

here is my list:

and my opponent list:

this is the table. I won the LT roll so I kept the initiative and gave my opponent the control of the table. He chose the side and asked me to deploy first.

Image

the idea was very superbowl inspired - use the magister as a agressive deffensive wal to allow my machinist an access to the alien device and move along to stay between him and the IS force.

My opponent is a regular here I will let him comment his deployment.

Turn 1

Image

Initial deployment position

Military Order (Noirfatale)

OK basically I started with my magister unlinked, did their impetuous move then used mt LT order to link them, went forward but out of sight until I was past the center objective - shot Sforza and the REM beside with a ML.

Image
Image

then my machinist went forward, acessed the device, I got lucky and rolled a 1 on the information location table so I got the real info on my first try and on the first device so he retreated back, went in contact with the Mulebot - so the info was encrypted and ready to transmit but I had to wait till turn 2 as you cannot transmit in turn one. I pulled back my knight in cover to cover the objective to stop my opponent from going at it. That was a very good turn.

Imperial Service (Marc C)

Image

Image

my opponent deployed a garuda in AD:2 shot my machinist despite my OS with spitfire and MSV2 and De Fersen. He had to shoot twice but he got him. Shot my mulebot after too.

ok things got dicey around here. My opponent tryed to use his EM GL on my magister, got shot to hell with penzerfaust and ML - killed his REM, Sophotech AND his LT... ouch. ML in link team is brutal.

Turn 2

Military Order (Noirfatale)

ok I played badly on this turn, I had the game and I tryed to go to quickly and well it dint work. Missed all my rolls with De Fersen, used way too many order to waste the Garuda, had to bring the Magister to finish him off. Should have done a coordinated fire... anyway a bad turn for me.

Image

finally got the garuda with my ML.

Imperial Service (Marc C)

Image
Image

ok my opponent kept his cool, he knew his chance to win were too slim so he used his order to keep is Su Jian from retreating and then he got him to shoot my OS with MSV2. his idea was to keep his hacker on the table to block the Uplink and do some XP! loosing with zero XP sucks and he was willing to let me have my 2 extra xp if he could get some too. It payed off as you will see...

Turn 3

Military Order - Noirfatale

Note to self - try to kill hacker BEFORE uplink. 2 defensive hacker vs your hacker even with encrypted info... oh well my opponent got 2 pts has my OS hacker tryed to send the info as well. Thats cool.

Imperial Service - Marc C

Image

electing a new LT was useless by then he used his orders to keep his hacker on the table in hope to block me again.

Turn 4

Military Order - Noirfatale

Image

Image

ok no more mister nice guy... Got my magister to shoot one of the hacker, dodged the Su Jian panzefaust on the way then shot the clestial hacker in my LF to pieces.

Image

I could have shot the last one but I would have to expose my magister to the Su Jian again and decided to try my luck with the uplink. This time De Fersen was successfull.

ENDGAME : MO WIN with 5 pts, IS got 2pts.

its was a good game were I rushed too much after my initial great turn 1, got overcaried and almost lost because of it. Got lots of milage from my Magister - now it is very strong but I know my opponent wont be fooled twice and will deal with them If I try that trick again.

Sweet Baby Jesus! This is the sort of battle report I love to see. I feel like I was there watching. The miniatures and table look great. I have one question, do you guys always play without roofs for the buildings? I'm wondering if you guys like it better that way?

Tell marc c to register. We won't hurt him. :D

we play at a store in Montreal called L'Abysse. They have 2 Infinity table up at all time - here is the other table :

so to answer your question we prefer to have roof, we put dice to say which floor the mini is at. Its easyer. But the table we played had building with no roof and we agreed before starting the match that the building really had no roof.

took nearly 2h to play the game and nearly 4h to make the battle report lol.

LOL! I see Noirfatale has been productive.

He first posted the BR in French sunday night after the game on our local forum and now he made it in English... hard act to follow.
I took the pictures.

That table was (wip) built for Paradiso. The buildings are abandoned (ruins) so they have no roof.
Its fun to play like that. No hidding place !

Post-game analysis - My defeat can be attributed by two factors:

1) Noirfatale rolled a 2 at the first techno-device he reached so he gained access to the data on turn 1. 20% chance. Very lucky of him.

2) My deployement was lame. I should have know better. Grouping models in Infinity make no sense unless you have a link team. My excuse is that in spend the two weeks before the game moving into a new house... that takes a toll on a man's brain.

So had I deployed properly, the Magisters would not have been so efficient. I knew noirfatale had first turn. I should have given myself AROs. With a total reaction HMG, and EM grenade launcher and Father Sforza the Magister link team would probably have been reduced to 4 or 3 models. And maybe even immobilized by EM. Noirfatale's list was dependant in the Magister link team...

Well done noirfatale. Don't expect an easy victory from me next time !
